NAME

afs_volume_move - move a volume to another OpenAFS file server

SYNOPSYS

afs_volume_move [--exclude <server name>] [--run|-r] <volume name>+

DESCRIPTION

Move a volume to a new file server. Possible servers are determined automatically; as a method of load balancing the available space on each server partition is checked.

To check for available servers call "vos listaddrs" beforehand.

OPTIONS

-?, --help, --man

show a short help screen or the manual page

--exclude <servername>

Exclude the server named <servername> from the list of possible destinations. The name must match exactly. This option may be used more than once. SHOULD WORK, BUT IS NOT TESTED!

--include <servername>

Only use servers provides as argumen to this option. No automatic determination of available servers, but still use the server partition with most available space.

--run|-r

Execute the necessary statements, otherwise just show the basic AFS commands to perform the move.

BUGS

one volume

currently only one volume is supported

same machine

does not check whether source and destination server are the same machine

free space

Does not check, if there is enough space on destination server. In that case the AFS command "vos move" failes, but recovers gracefully.
